It’s that time of year when we stop for a moment and reflect on the year that is drawing to a close. So for this week’s blog, we’ve decided to do just that, and take a brief look at some team PG highlights as an annual review 2019 across the each months on 2019. We’d like to share some of these moments with you, and also to thee opportunity to thank all of our customers – old and new – for your continued custom and support.
January

We started on a high with Poonam and Puneet being listed in the Asian Power Couples Hot 100 2019 for Philanthropy. Since our inception, charitable works has been embedded in our purpose and vision. Over the years, Poonam and Puneet have helped raise millions of pounds for charitable causes close to their hearts, including Oxfam, Elephant Charity, Unicef and Action for Children. It remains a guiding principle for all of us at PG Paper.
February

Doing it for the Girls! Poonam was awarded Amazing Business Achievement Award at the No.1 Amazing Woman Awards.

March
Phil and Amanda from PG’s Procurement team spent a busy and successful few days at Paper2019; an annual event co-hosted by the National Paper Trade Association (NPTA) and the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA). This year it took place in Chicago (it alternates between the Windy City and New York each year) – under the banner of ‘Where the Industry Meets!’
April

Jim McKenzie joined the PG team this month to head up the sales team. With over four decades of experience in the paper industry, Jim brings reams and reams of experience and paper knowledge with him (did you see what we did there?! 😊)
May

Teamwork makes the Dream Work – as the PG Paper team scoops Business of the Year at the SME Scottish Business Awards.
June

ExpoPack 2019
Doing business in over 55 countries means that international travel by our multilingual team is a constant. In June, Charles and Vito from our International Business Development Team headed to Mexico for a series of successful client meetings – and to attend ExpoPack 2019 in Guadalajara. Our PG amigos joined over 17000 other visitors to the Expo. We’re not sure how many of the 700+ exhibitors they managed to get round!
July

It was the ICC Cricket World Cup this month and the PG team enjoyed entertaining clients at various cricket matches throughout the tournament. We did go a little batty and organised a sweepstake and our own game in the HQ courtyard too!
August

‘New York is always a good idea’ – we’re not sure who said this about NYC but we liked it so much, we decided to open a PG office in the Big Apple. OK, that’s not exactly true, but this month, we opened the doors of our first Stateside location, in downtown SoHo no less! We have ambitious plans to grow our business in Canada, America and across Latin America (amongst other locations); so we’re delighted to have established a base here, to allow us to strengthen existing relationships with our mill partners and customers.
September

‘We Rise by Lifting Others’ is our mantra at PG Paper. And some of the team like to do that in pink tutus and pink wigs! Some members of PG HQ joined thousands of other pink-clad teams to help raise funds for a national cancer charity.
October

Another highlight for PG in 2019, was the opening of our Istanbul office this month, with Kemal Dogru at the reins as our Country Manager. Kemal has worked in the paper industry for almost thirty years, so he knows a thing or two about paper, packaging, board and tissue.
November

The team celebrated the fantastic news of Poonam’s win at the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in the ‘Scale-Up of the Year’ category. This win followed hot on the heels of a double trophy win a the EY Scottish Awards.
December

Considered by many as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Expos, PG Paper was delighted to meet with customers – old and new – at our fabulous stand at Paperex 2019 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
And finally, a word from our CEO, Poonam Gupta and our COO, Puneet Gupta:

Poonam on 2019, “It’s been an incredible year for PG on so many fronts – from establishing new offices, winning new business and recognition for the team in a number of business awards. On a personal front, I have been delighted to lend my support and experience to a number of organisations that support other entrepreneurs on their journey. I am grateful too for the opportunity to support the amazing work of a number of local and international charities who work hard to lift others.”

Puneet on 2019, “PG has grown significantly over the last 12 months in terms of the team, our locations and our client base and, for me, this has brought with it specific requirements around processes, reporting procedures and staff development – which I am delighted to say, the team has delivered on! This provides us with a solid foundation to successfully deliver our growth strategy for 2020 and beyond!”
With our best wishes for the season, from the team at PG. We look forward to connecting with you again in 2020! Happy Holidays!
