Ever Given in the Suez Canal is freed
Efforts to refloat the 200,000-tonne container ship, Ever Given, proved successful on Monday 29th March, after nearly six days of being lodged aground in the Suez Canal. Traffic in the waterway can resume, the canal authority told Reuters.
Latest Price Increases Across the Sector
Papeteries du Léman
French mill, Papeteries du Léman, has announced price increases of between 5-8% to be applied from 1st May across all Primabake and speciality ranges. Papeteries du Léman confirmed that should raw material, energy and logistics costs continue to rise, there will be a further phase of increases in the coming months.
Lecta
Market-leading manufacturer Lecta is increasing prices by 8-10% across both its self-adhesive products and speciality paper ranges. The price increases will impact deliveries of speciality paper grades from 1st April and self-adhesive products from 19th April.
Greif
Packaging and container giant, Greif Inc. announced a new set of price increases on key paperboard products. These increases are in addition to previously announced price increases:
– $50 per ton price increase for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB)
– $50 per ton increase for all grades of coated recycled paperboard (CRB)
became effective 18th March with new orders placed.
Green Bay Packaging Begins Production at New Paper Mill
Green Bay Packaging confirms that the first reel of paper was produced at its new paper mill in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on 11th March 2021. The completion of the $500 million project is the largest in the company’s history and creates one of the most environmentally sustainable paper mills in the world.

Klabin launches Sackraft packaging with sustainable resin barrier
Staying with sustainable packaging news, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, Klabin, has launched a ‘sackraft’ packaging solution lined with a sustainable resin barrier, eliminating the use of plastic film in its composition. The product will initially be targeted at the construction, fertilisers and seeds industries.
