Procter & Gamble Announces First Lenor Paper Bottle Pilot and Joins Paboco Community of Pioneer Brands
Procter & Gamble’s Fabric Enhancer brand Lenor has recently shared a new prototype paper bottle as part of its aim to reduce its environmental footprint. The American consumer giant has partnered with paper bottle company Paboco, with a pilot planned for Western Europe in 2022 which we’re looking forward to hearing more about.
Smurfit Kappa agrees to acquire state of the art 600,000 tonne recycled containerboard mill
Smurfit Kappa Group plc will acquire Verzuolo, a containerboard company based in Northern Italy. Their mill, which is owned by the Burgo Group, has a PM9 machine that was newly constructed in 2002 and in 2019 was converted into a 600,000-tonne capacity recycled containerboard machine.
Graphic Packaging Launches OptiCycle™ Line of Non-PE Coated Foodservice Packaging
A new line of non-polyethylene (PE) coated, single-use foodservice packaging has been released by Graphic Packaging. Announced as OptiCycle™, this provides consumers with a new alternative to traditional PE and PLA coated products. Designed to allow for easy recycling, when repulped approximately 98% of the fibre is recovered providing an opportunity for almost the entire cup to be used again to make other paper products.
Pratt Industries announces $400 million investment in new 100% recycled paper mill
Pratt Industries latest announcement will see the organisation invest in a new 100% recycled paper mill in Henderson, Kentucky. This new mill will be 450,000 sq. ft with additional plans to build a 700,000 sq. ft corrugated box factory alongside it. The new mill will produce more than 1500 tons of recycled paper daily. In their latest announcement, Pratt Industries noted that this production will save the equivalent of over 25,000 trees every 24 hours.
Acquisition of De Hoop paper mill by De Jong Packaging Group
De Jong Packaging Group has announced the proposed acquisition of the De Hoop paper mill in The Netherlands from DS Smith plc. With 370,000 tonnes of recycled paper being produced each year the acquisition provides a new opportunity for growth for De Jong Packaging Group.
