
Metsä Tissue Comes to the UK to serve Professional and Consumer Markets Locally
The Metsa group has recently announced plans to invest in a new tissue mill in the UK. The mill will have the capacity to produce around 240,000 tons of tissue paper using sustainable fresh fibre pulp and will be developed in several stages across the next decade. Ahlstrom-Munksjö to Create Global Leader in Decor Papers with Acquisition of Minglian
Ahlstrom-Munksjö has agreed to acquire 60% of Minglian New Materials Technology Co. Ltd, forming a joint venture which will include a décor paper plant in the city of Xingtai, China. The Paper Lid Company and Metsä Board Launch 100% Recyclable Paperboard Lid
A 100% recyclable paperboard lid has been created as a result of a long-standing collaboration between The Paper Lid Company and Metsä Board. This new lid, made from a fully recyclable dispersion barrier board, is designed for both hot and cold beverages and uses new technology developed by The Paper Lid Company. UPM Transfers Shotton Paper Mill site to Eren Paper Ltd
UPM has announced the permanent closure of paper production at their newsprint mill site in North Wales. All assets will be transferred to Eren Paper Ltd, a subsidiary of Modern Karton Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S., the containerboard and corrugated packaging business of Eren Holding. Greif, Inc.
The global leader in industrial packaging products announced its latest price increases coming into effect with new orders and shipments on and after 22 November 2021. These latest price increases follow previous increases and is in response to strong demand across the Grief paperboard and converting network as well as the industry-wide increasing energy, transport, labour costs. The company has announced a $60 per ton price increase for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard in the United States and Canada which will be effective on shipments beginning 1 November 2021. This has been attributed to the continued pressure on manufacturing costs such as energy, freight, chemicals, and packaging materials. Click here to find out more.
Sonoco-Alcore
Sonoco-Alcore announced it will be raising prices due to the continued increase in the cost of European energy. This will include a €100 (£100)/ tonne increase on all recycled paperboard grades sold in its EMEA regions, impacting all shipments made on or after 18 October 2021. Click here to find out more.
