Businesses all around the world have faced many hardships in 2022. However, despite various challenges standing in our way, the PG Paper team have worked together to overcome these hurdles.
Like many others, the year gone by presented us with times of uncertainty. However, there are many positives that we can take away from 2022. It’s important to reflect and look back on all of the things we accomplished in 2022 to look forward to what lies ahead.
So, to sign off on a positive note, we look back on our highlight reel of the past 12 months.
Team Awards
It was another year of success for various members of the PG Paper team recognised for their continuous commitment, loyalty and hard work within business or their dedicated field.
Our head of Logistics and longest-serving team member, Fiona Dempster, was acknowledged for her dedication to the logistics industry, receiving the ‘Freight Leader Award’ at the 2022 Amazon Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards.
Founder and CEO of PG Paper, Dr Poonam Gupta OBE, was also recognised for her incredible passion for business and entrepreneurial mindset this year, receiving an impressive total of two awards. Poonam was honoured to win both ‘Inspiring Women of the Year’ at the 2022 Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards and ‘Business Women of the Year’ at the 4th Scottish Women’s Awards.
Lastly, our CEO Puneet Gupta won the ‘Special Award for Business Leadership’ at the 20th Asian Achievers Awards recognising his continuous drive, focus and exceptional leadership skills.
We would like to congratulate the team once again on winning these prestigious awards, and we hope for more team success like this in 2023!
Events
Whether it’s hosting, organising or sponsoring events, we have always loved getting involved in both local and national events, and this year was no different. Throughout the course of 2022, the PG Paper team were involved in some fantastic events, with the following two being the standouts.
At the beginning of June, Inverclyde Council hosted the very first ‘Inverclyde Warrior’ 5K Obstacle Course event, which we were thrilled to be sponsors of. As sponsors of the event, it was only right we entered a team of 10 ‘PG Warriors’ to face off against hindrances such as cargo nets, wall jumps and the dreaded travelator. We were delighted to both sponsor and take part in this important initiative for the local community, helping to welcome togetherness back to the Inverclyde community after the pandemic.
For the second consecutive year, our CEO’s Dr Poonam Gupta OBE and Puneet Gupta were delighted to host a Diwali Reception at The Scottish Parliament building in Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh. The event brought together members of the Scottish Asian community to celebrate the Festival of Lights, listening to speeches from various MSP’s, the Consul General of India, Edinburgh and our CEO, Puneet Gupta. Listening to Diwali prayers and celebrating in style through traditional Indian dance, music and food, all combined to conclude a great celebration for Diwali.
Returning to Expos!
As global travel phased back to normality and large-scale events returned to the fold, our Business Development team were delighted to see the return of trade exhibitions after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The importance of being able to speak with customers and suppliers in person is unmatched. Therefore, having the opportunity to once again connect with partners both old and new was welcomed by our team who were enthused to make a return to some of the most prominent paper events in the world, such as Paperex in India and FachPack in Germany to name a few.
Our team now focus on preparation for the many exhibitions we plan to attend in 2023, eager to kickstart new relationships with clients across the globe.
Growing The PG Paper Family
As we embarked on our 19th year in business at the beginning of 2022, a key focus for us was to build and expand on the current PG Paper team, recruiting talented people to help further our success. We set ourselves ambitious growth plans at the start of the year, with recruitment being at the core of our vision of success. Now looking ahead into 2023, we are proud to have welcomed several new members to the PG Paper team, all bringing with them a wide variety of skills and attributes that will be integral to our growth moving into PG Paper’s 20th year.
PG Paper welcomed Rod Leach, our new Managing Director to the team towards the end of this year, joining the team to help further our growth across global markets and further diversification. Accompanied by a wealth of Managing Director experience and almost 20 years of business management experience, we are delighted to have Rod on board as we seek to expand our product portfolio and international presence in 2023.
Despite the challenges faced throughout 2022, our team collectively fought against adversity and ultimately came out the other end stronger. Considering the difficult and unpredictable circumstances of 2022, PG Paper have had another successful year, and are delighted to have celebrated many key milestones along the way. As we set our focus toward the new year, we are confident that 2023 will be a year of growth and success for PG Paper.
We wish all of our customers, suppliers and friends around the globe all the best for 2023, and we look forward to working with you all again in the year ahead.
