It has been a positive first half of the year for us here at PG Paper. It’s hard to believe that we are already half way through 2022, and although we have faced some challenges along the way, there have been a lot of great things to shout about so far. As the paper industry continues to present us with supply chain disruption, energy surcharges and many other challenges, our team continue to work hard to prevent disruption to business operations. Despite these hurdles, we reflect on all the positive things that have happened so far this year as we continue to look forward optimistically for the rest of 2022. So, here’s a look back on our 2022 journey so far.
Returning to Normality After Covid-19
At the start of this year we were delighted to begin the transition of welcoming the team back to our PG headquarters in Greenock, Scotland. With many team members working from home throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, our team were relieved to return to the office environment and collaborate with their fellow team mates.
Our Global Sales Team Reunite!
March was an exciting month as we welcomed our global sales team to our head office in Scotland. This was the first time in over two years we were able to get the full team together in one place, with many meeting each other in person for the first time. Over the duration of the four days, we hosted various business meetings and team building exercises for the team to set goals for the remainder of 2022 and have the opportunity to get to know each other better. As a bit of fun, we even had caricatures created for everyone in our business development team, which gave us a lot of great laughs.
PG Paper Back Exhibiting
After a long two-year break from trade exhibitions due to the global pandemic, we made the long-awaited return to Tissue World Miami and Paperex in India. We attended Tissue World Miami in March, coming together with the global tissue community and re-connecting with partners old and new.
Paperex is internationally renowned for being one of the largest paper and pulp exhibitions globally, and our business development team were thrilled to attend this year’s 15th installment in Delhi, India. We exhibited at Paperex in May over the course of four days, along with 600 other paper industry leaders from all over the globe. Our team praised the running and overall participation of the event, proving that the return of industry trade shows is hugely beneficial to overall business growth and success.
Community Involvement
At the beginning of June, Inverclyde hosted the first ever ‘Inverclyde Warrior’ 5K Obstacle Course event, which PG Paper were delighted to be sponsors of. The event was part of Inverclyde Council’s Meliora Festival and was hosted at the Battery Park in Greenock. As sponsors of the event, we entered a team of eleven PG warriors to face off against obstacles such as cargo nets, wall jumps and the dreaded travelator. The team had a fantastic time participating in the event and all successfully completed the course. After the difficult times we have all faced over the last couple of years, it was great to be a part of a community event like this one.
Continued Growth Plans
Following a successful period of growth for PG Paper, at the beginning of 2022 we set out exciting plans to expand our international team across all departments, with a particular spotlight on growing our global sales team. Now almost six months later, we have welcomed several new employees to the PG Paper family, all bringing with them expertise that will help bolster our team. There has never been a more exciting time to be involved within the paper industry, and through successful recruitment we will continue to build on our long-term success. Encouraging a culture of collaboration and appreciation is at the heart of our organisation, and we look forward to continuing our focus on team expansion throughout the remainder of 2022.
