In the blink of an eye
For every one of us, Life has changed dramatically, in the blink of an eye. You’re probably reading this blog post from home and trying to juggle work, family commitments, as you worry about everything from getting your food shop, to how your wider family and maybe elderly neighbours are coping – and everything else the current crisis has thrown at us! Life has changed dramatically in blink.
Accentuate the Positive

To keep our spirits high here at PG Paper, we are trying to focus on a few key points to help us steer the business through these tricky waters. Like all businesses, we are facing very tough decisions but remain determined and committed as a team, to ‘accentuate the positive’ and to look for the opportunities – as individuals, as teams and as a business – that will ensure we seize the opportunities that the current situation has placed upon us, and that we come out the other side of this with a stronger sense of purpose and determination to succeed.
It’s Good to Talk, Email, Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp…..

Communication both internally and externally has never been more important now that were all working remotely. Keeping the communication channels open with colleagues and business partners has increased exponentially at PG Paper. Ensuring that the business functions successfully, relies on good communication cross-functionally, and now we are all communicating virtually it can take some getting used to.
It’s not as easy as a quick catch up while making your morning coffee or a short meeting in the staff room, but a few weeks in, and I am pleased to say we are starting to get the hang of it. Keeping communication flowing is also important to check in on how colleagues, business partners, suppliers and customer are coping during the situation. We are all human, and a friendly WhatsApp message or phone call can make someone’s day.
Keep the Focus

Keeping our heads clear during this time is easier said than done. At PG, like many businesses, Q1 of our new financial year has just kicked off, and we are pushing on with the plans to meet our 2020 strategy goals as a team. The whole team has worked hard on pulling together challenging yet achievable goals for this coming year – and we don’t intend to let the current situation stop that. Keeping a clear vision and focus during this time is ever more crucial, to help drive our shared goals and values forward, and help keep positivity at a high.
Making Healthy Choices (or at least trying to 😊)

In order to keep a clear head and do our best work, making sure we are healthy is a good place to start. With gyms and exercises closed for the foreseeable future, we need to be more creative and driven to keep up our exercise habits. Working from home can be a challenge too, with a biscuit tin and sweetie cupboard in the next room! Beth, PG’s HR manager, shared a blog on some great ways to keep your mind and body healthy, which you can have a look at here – Staying Sane in Isolation .
Keep on Keeping On!

Finally, this will pass. In the meantime, we will push business forward and make the most of every opportunity that comes our way, whatever it may be. By working efficiently, keeping communication flowing and keeping our vision for the year ahead front and centre of everything we do, we will ensure that PG not only survives these challenging time, but thrives.
