Folding Box Board FBB
Folding Box Board (FBB), also referred to as GC, is a carton board solution that is labelled under the GC classification. FBB is categorised into 3 subtypes which are based on the colour of the reverse side of the material.
FBB contains two layers, with the top layer produced using bleached coated fibres, whilst the reverse layer comes in white (GC1), cream (GC2) or brown (GC3). The dual layer composition of this material enhances its aesthetic and suitability for various applications.
Folding box board is a cost-effective yet high-quality packaging solution, and its versatility makes it a popular solution for direct food contact packaging, pharmaceutical packaging and cosmetic packaging.
Greyboard
Greyboard or unlined chipboard, is a high-strength paperboard characterised by its grey appearance on both sides of the board. Greyboard is classified as GK, and is manufactured using unbleached paper fibres. This carton board is uncoated, which provides it with a matte finish.
Known for its durability and strength attributes, greyboard is used for protective packaging, notebook backing and folders. This carton board option is best suited for those seeking a cost-effective yet robust packaging material.
Duplex Board
Duplex board, also referred to as white lined chipboard, is a type of carton board that contains two layers or plies of fibres. Both layers are mechanically combined during the manufacturing process to produce a material that is sturdier than single-ply paperboard.
Duplex consists of two layers: a bleached and coated layer on the top, and an unbleached and uncoated layer on the bottom. The bleached top layer is used for high printing capabilities, whereas the reverse side contributes to the overall strength of the structure.
Duplex board possesses high printability and strength, making it suitable for a diverse range of applications, such as non-direct contact food packaging, household goods packaging and electronic packaging. Duplex board can also be used for promotional items such as display boards.
SBS Board
SBS (Solid Bleached Sulphate) board, is a premium grade carton board solution. SBS is produced using bleached chemical pulp, resulting in a pristine white shade and an attractive solution for premium packaging applications. SBS board often features a coating on one or both sides, providing the material with a smooth finish to enhance printability.
SBS board is available at a slightly higher price point compared to other carton boards. However, this solution offers greater strength, print and appearance attributes, making it one of the most sought-after packaging solutions within the luxury packaging market. SBS board is commonly used for high-end packaging for products such as cosmetics, electronics, and luxury goods.
