Newsprint comes in virgin and recycled qualities, starting at 40gsm and increasing to 55gsm. Under the Newsprint umbrella we also work with improved, high bright and bulky qualities. We work with worldwide newsprint suppliers. As PG Paper’s major markets are emerging economies Newsprint is a high volume grade – our markets buy newspapers daily and circulation within our market is within the highest in the world. Low quality recycled newsprint can also be used for a variety of packaging needs. Its low cost makes it a versatile paper for end users.
2. Folding box board (FBB)
Folding Box Board has been one of our major growth areas in 2016-2017 as we further diversify into packaging papers and boards. We procure this stock directly from Europe and North America for export to our target markets and work with 150-400gsm board, in GC1, 2 and 3. The typical end use of FBB is for pharmaceutical boxes and middle of the range packaging. The paper can feature a light coating or can be uncoated, depending on the desired final look.
3. Wood-free coated paper (WFC/C2S/Art paper)
Wood-free coated paper, also called C2S and art paper, is a coated two side graphical grade, available in paper and board. The paper can have a glossy, silk or matte coating in various brightness levels from global manufacturers we work with exclusively. The paper is used for high end promotional materials including magazines, calendars and stationary items and can be used in both rotogravure and offset machines.
4. Woodfree uncoated (WFU/Offset) and A4 copier paper
Woodfree uncoated paper and A4 copier paper are very common papers in offices across the world. We work exclusively with major wood free uncoated paper mills on a global scale across the whole wood free uncoated spectrum; the grade begins from around 30gsm for Bible and Quran printing, 75-80gsm for office applications and can increase to as high as 400gsm for business cards and stationary. This versatile paper has many possible uses depending on the GSM.
5. Testliner and fluting
Testliner and fluting have continued to be a major growth area for us within packaging grades. Testliner and fluting are recycled grades from 90-250gsm used specifically in the corrugation of boxes. Test liner can also come with a white side, coated or uncoated, depending on the desired end product. We work directly with major mills across Europe when procuring these grades.
6. Coated one side paper/ board (C1S)
One side coated paper and board is a speciality packaging grade ranging from 40gsm to 500gsm. The range of applications are wide across industries. We work directly with specialist C1S mills across the world. This has been a major growth area for us since 2015 as demand for innovative packaging is rising globally.
7. Kraft Paper
Kraft paper is another versatile paper that is available from 30-300gsm. The lower grammage paper is mainly used for food packaging and a tolerance of grease (often used for bread and pastry bags) whereas the higher GSMs are used in packaging grades. The paper can be virgin or recycled fibres and can be natural colour (brown) or bleached.
Greaseproof paper, also known as parchment paper, is a speciality grade used in cooking, baking, and food packaging. The paper is typically low GSM (starting around 25gsm and increasing to around 100gsm) and has speciality features to ensure the paper can perform as expected. Greaseproof paper is exposed to very high temperatures and can often be in direct contact with high grease levels. These additional features enhance the paper’s recipe and cement it as a speciality grade with characteristics and costs of a premium paper. We source greaseproof paper from mills across the world with varying kit levels and heat tolerances to ensure our customer have a range of option to suit their needs.
Thermal paper is an area that we have been actively growing for the past 18 months. Thermal paper is a versatile grade that is available from thin paper to board. The paper has various end uses including receipts and tickets; thermal paper’s coating reacts to heat that comes from scanning (of receipts, tickets) and running through a machine (like train tickets) to ensure that the paper can function properly. We have thermal paper mill partners across Europe and North America.
