We would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and its impact on international shipping operations.
PG Paper Company Ltd remains in close contact with our carrier and logistics partners to assess implications for routing, transit times and overall service continuity. Movements through the affected region are under review, and several shipping lines have suspended bookings. New orders are therefore being assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine the most appropriate routing solutions.
In response to the evolving operating environment, additional surcharges are being implemented by a number of international shipping companies. Increased freight costs and further surcharge applications may affect impacted trade routes, including shipments already in transit as well as upcoming bookings. Operational adjustments by carriers may also include routing amendments or, where required, discharge at alternative ports.
In addition to the logistics considerations outlined above, mills are also monitoring volatility in energy and raw material costs, which may affect production pricing. As a result, some suppliers are limiting price validity periods or issuing order confirmations subject to review should material cost increases occur prior to production.
While we will always seek to minimise disruption and additional cost wherever possible, these developments are outside of PG Paper’s direct control and remain subject to carrier decisions and regional conditions. Where carrier-imposed surcharges or related cost adjustments become applicable, they may need to be passed through. Any such instances will be communicated clearly, with as much notice as circumstances allow.
We will continue to share further updates as verified information becomes available. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and understanding. Should you have specific concerns regarding current or forthcoming shipments, please contact your usual PG Paper representative.
