Pohl-Scandia introduce new eco-friendly grass packaging
Germany-based packaging manufacturer Pohl-Scandia has recently introduced their new sustainable alternative to paper – GrassGreen!®. The exciting new brand offers something different to the market, with a range of packaging produced using grass fibres.
Pohl-Scandia’s innovative new range is 100% recyclable, manufactured using 40% grass content and the rest of paper wastage. In terms of production, the methods are hugely beneficial to the planet as the grass fibers are mechanically produced, resulting in a 95% decrease in CO2 emissions.

Sun Paper partners with Voith to introduce PM2
Chinese paper manufacturers Sun Paper have again partnered with paper technology company Voith to implement PM2 at its site situated in Beihai. The machine has been assembled to produce high quality white folding box board, with the aim of 1 million tonnes to be produced per year.
With both companies having a strong relationship, the pair were able to execute the project in record-breaking time, which is impressive considering the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.
SIG set for the acquisition of Pactiv Evergreen Inc’s fresh operations
Swiss carton packaging company SIG has recently announced the acquisition of Evergreen Asia from global food packaging manufacturers Pactiv Evergreen Inc. The Evergreen Asia brand focuses on the production of cartons & closures, particularly for dairy products, and is currently the biggest supplier across mainland China. The acquisition provides SIG with the opportunity of introducing its innovative packaging ideas to the attractive Asia Pacific market.

The Navigator Company introduce surcharge across tissue paper products
The Navigator Company, Portugal’s largest paper manufacturer, announced earlier this month that they would be implementing a new 15% surcharge across their tissue range. The European manufacturer introduced the surcharge in an attempt to combat the significant increase in manufacturing costs. Navigator believes the introduction of the charge was crucial for the supply chain of the business to continue to flourish. The charge was introduced on 15th January, with the manufacturers announcing that they will re-evaluate if necessary to keep in line with the position of the market.

Valmet agree to board machine rebuild at Stora Enso’s Swedish mill Skoghall
Leading paper & pulp technology company Valmet has begun planning a board machine rebuild for Stora Enso’s BM8 machine. The project is set to take place at Skoghall, Stora Enso’s paper mill in Sweden, and is set to be finalised by the end of 2023. Both companies hope that on completion of the project, the re-designed board machine output will increase by 100,000 tonnes, totalling 900,000 tonnes per annum.
