As we progress through July, we find ourselves at a significant milestone, reaching the halfway point of 2023. Marking the midpoint of what will be our 20th year in business, there is a lot to reflect on from the first six months. So far this year, we have encountered our fair share of challenges. However, our dedicated team has consistently overcome them, ensuring they never halt our progress.
Here at PG Paper, we like to reflect on many of the positive moments we have experienced so far this year, both as a team and as individuals. With notable highlights spreading from January to June, let’s shine the spotlight on some of the high points from the year up to now.
Celebrating Excellence
We kicked off 2023 with an exciting announcement. Our CEO, Puneet Gupta OBE, was named on His Majesty the King’s New Year Honours List 2023. Puneet was awarded the honour of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to Business, Charity and Community.
January also brought success for the PG Paper team at this year’s China-Scotland Business Awards. We were honoured to be awarded ‘Exporter of the Year’ at the 6th annual instalment of these prestigious awards. Receiving this award brought immense joy to the team, as it acknowledged the strides we have made in expanding our business in China over recent years.
Most recently, we were thrilled to hear the news that PG Papers founder and CEO, Dr Poonam Gupta OBE, was awarded a Doctor of Business Administration in recognition of her exceptional contributions to business, charity and her unwavering commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
Team Expansion Remains Key Focus
At the beginning of the year, we set out our goals for 2023, with the recruitment of talented and hardworking individuals implemented as key drivers for business success. Team expansion plays a pivotal role in our growth strategy, which is why we have welcomed many new members to the PG family in the last six months. A key area of recruitment has been focused on strengthening our global business development team, recruiting experienced personnel to support the development of both new and existing markets. Welcoming a total of 7 new recruits in the last six months, each individual brings extensive knowledge that will help support our growth plans as we focus on entering new markets and diversification. Prominent promotions have also taken place within the company this year, with fantastic changes in our finance team. Joining PG Paper in 2016 as Finance Controller, Beth Macleod was promoted to Finance Director in March of this year to help bolster our strategic growth plans.
Our CEO, Puneet Gupta OBE commented on the appointment: “Beth’s promotion is an acknowledgement of the important contributions she has made to PG Paper over the past seven years, and we have no doubt that she will continue to succeed in her new role as Finance Director as we embark on this new period of growth.”
Annual Business Development Meeting
The annual business development team meeting remains a highly anticipated event, serving as a standout moment each year as we gather the entire PG Paper team at our UK Head Office in Greenock, Scotland.
This year’s meeting brought together a significant number of new faces, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere as everyone eagerly embraced the opportunity to connect and build new relationships.
Travelling from various locations across the globe, including India, China and Europe, our team touched down to reunite for the first time since April last year. As expected, the week was a huge success, jam-packed with meetings, presentations and discussions to help progress our growth plans and advance our business objectives. This important meeting also gives our team the opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level, enjoying activities such as Top Golf and wine tasting.
We consider this annual event to be instrumental in fostering business growth, with meetings and discussions throughout the week contributing to accelerated progress. This week also plays a vital role in promoting cross-team collaboration, bringing our team closer together, which is an essential factor for achieving overall company success.
Over the past six months, PG Paper has experienced substantial growth, marked by numerous achievements. The synergy and positivity displayed by our dynamic teams have enabled us to proactively overcome challenges and remain ahead of the curve. As we enter the second half of the year, our focus remains on further strengthening our team and progressively working towards achieving our targets and goals set for 2023.
